Kansas Speeding Ticket - Kansas Traffic Violations

If you have a Kansas speeding ticket, here are some things you need to know. Many states in the U.S. use a point system that rates moving violations by assigning a certain number of points for each type of infraction.

In KANSAS, they use a system of "occurrences", rather than points. If you get three moving violations within twelve months, you will be warned by the Department of Revenue that your license will be suspended. If you receive a 4th occurrence or violation; your license may be suspended for 30 days.

Moving violations include other tickets in addition to speeding; such as running a red light, failing to yield the right-of- way, improper lane change and many more.

Violations such as reckless driving and driving while suspended that are considered very serious and may carry a 90 day suspension without anything else on your record.

In Kansas, you also have the risk of becoming a "habitual violator" if you get three major violations within a five year period. This will suspend your license for three years.

The types of violations that may put your license in a habitual violator status are:

*Driving Under the Influence - DUI
*Reckless driving
*Leaving the scene of an accident
*Minor in possession (MIP)
