I have been advised by my lawyer that an SIS was granted on/during my last court appearance for the "criminal" side of my DWI offense. Should I expect something in writing either from the court or my lawyer or anyone explaining/confirming this "settlement"?

Yes, you should expect something in writing regarding the terms of your SIS relating to your DWI.

It would be difficult (and unreasonable) to expect you to comply with any terms that were not specifically laid out. There is generally alot "riding" on an SIS. Therefore, you can never be too clear on what the terms are - and for how long.

Your attorney should be the liason between you and the court to make sure you have a clear understanding of the terms.
