Explain How A Ticket Amendment Works

I don't understand how this process works.

The amendment process works by negotiating with the court to change the offense to a lesser offense in exchange for certain considerations. In the case of traffic tickets, that means more money.

The court charges an increased fine in exchange for reducing your offense from a moving violation to a “zero-point, non-moving infraction”. The valuable benefit in this is that non-moving infractions are NOT recorded on your driving record.

If they are not recorded on your record, they do not incur points, nor are the charges apparent to insurance companies, credit evaluations, employers, or others that may inquire as to the status of your driving record.

speeding ticket
by: Anonymous

I was pulled over for speeding and not wearing my seat belt. I saw the officer the next day and he informed me to contest the ticket because he wasnt going to be a cop anymore. So I did. I got a letter in the mail stating the my ticket was amended and nothing else. What does that mean?

Response: Saying your ticket was "amended" means it was changed. How was it changed? That depends on the court and the circumstances.

If a ticket is "dismissed" that it "goes away" and is no longer a valid charge against you. However, that is apparently not the terminology that was used. Your question for the court is, "What was my ticket amended to?"
