Iowa Child Support Calculator And Online Resources
The Child Support Recovery Unit uses the Iowa Supreme Court's Guidelines to set the child support amount. Both parents' incomes are used to calculate the child support amount. Income from a stepparent or public assistance is not included in the calculation. The Iowa Child Support Calculator will give you an estimate or a general idea of what the child support payment may be. Please remember that this is for informational purposes only and The Child Support Recovery Unit or the Court assumes no responsibility for the accuracy of the child support amount you determine based upon your use of this estimator.
Additionally, the child support amount determined may not be the same amount that we may calculate or the court may approve. Many factors affect the amount of child support ordered and each situation is somewhat unique. The child support
amount may be higher or lower depending on the income figures you use in this estimator.
The Child Support Calculator also assumes that all children will primarily live with one parent. It is not intended to apply to situations where there is joint physical care (the children spend half their time with each parent) or split custody (each parent has custody of one or more of the children).
