The Oklahoma child support calculator uses guidelines that are based on the Income Shares Model. The monthly support amount is determined by the guidelines applied proportionally according to each parent's income.

These two (2) support amounts then establish which parent will pay the other parent for support of the child. All income is generally verified by evidence presented on past W-2's.

When there are minor unmarried children in awarding or modifying the custody of the child or in appointing a general guardian for the child, the court shall consider what appears to be in the best interests of the child.

When it is in the best interests of a minor unmarried child, the court shall:
Assure children of frequent and continuing contact with both parents
Encourage parents to share the rights and responsibilities of child rearing

Oklahoma child support guidelines do not demonstrate a legal preference nor a presumption for or against joint legal custody, joint physical custody, or sole custody.

If either party has objections to the determination, they can notify the Oklahoma Division of Child Support in writing to request a hearing.
